Exit Jct. 26 and take the fourth exit A58 Halifax.

Follow the lane markings on the road carefully. The journey time after leaving the M62 is approximately 20 minutes depending upon traffic conditions. After Hipperholme the A58 enters Halifax. After the first set of traffic lights within Halifax at Stump Cross the A58 bends sharply to the left followed by a long straight uphill section with Shibden Park on the left. At the top of this straight section the road bends to the right just after going under a bridge and on the left is a view of the whole of the centre of Halifax.

Follow the main road, A58, over the dual carriageway flyover (Burdock Way) and at the end of the flyover is a very large, traffic light controlled roundabout. Continue along the A58, second exit from the large roundabout. The bypass continues for another ¼ mile where a slip road joins from the left. On the right, opposite some pedestrian controlled traffic lights is The King's Centre.

To park along Park Road or other streets move into the centre lane past the above traffic light and turn right along Parkinson Lane at the next set of traffic lights. Turn right at a mini roundabout along Francis Street, Calderdale College is on the right. Turn right at another mini roundabout along Hopwood Lane. People's Park is on the right. Turn next right along Park Road.
For Pay and Display car parks DO NOT turn right along Park Road but continue along Parkinson Lane to a mini roundabout situated under the bypass. Turn right along Hanover Street. At the end turn left along King Cross Street and take any turn on the right where there are a number of Pay and Display car parks.

Directions from M62 West

Exit Jct. 24 and proceed three quarters of the way round the roundabout at the end of the slip road.

Follow signs A629 Halifax/Huddersfield.

A dual carriageway links the motorway to the road network.

At the end of this dual carriageway is a roundabout. Take the second exit into A629 Halifax.

This is a dual carriageway for a couple of miles.

There is a speed limit of 50mph and three active speed cameras on the long descent into the Elland area. Follow the A629 into the centre of Halifax.

The next major town on the A629 is Keighley.

Just before the centre of Halifax the headquarters of the Halifax Building Society are on the left (now HBOS). A few yards further on the A629 bears left at traffic lights next to the Victoria Theatre.

The next set of traffic lights is at Bull Green. Keep on the inside lane and turn left at the Bull Green roundabout. For the Pay and Display car parks go straight on along King Cross Street and on the left are the offices of the local newspaper, the Halifax Courier. take any turn left, where there are a number of Pay and Display car parks. The King's Centre can be seen on the right hand side. For the Brunswick car park take the first left past the above traffic lights along Akeds Road, keep in the left hand lane and take the next left into Swires Road. About 100 yards on the left is the Brunswick car park at the corner of Westfield Street.

Directions by Train and Air


From the Northwest.

Change at Preston for a Blackpool to York train, departing hourly. All these trains stop at Halifax.

From North Wales and Liverpool.

Change trains in Manchester. A tram connects Manchester (Piccadilly) with Manchester (Victoria). Tickets for the tram are available from machines and the current cost is 60p. Trains depart approximately every half-hour from Manchester (Victoria) for Leeds or York and all trains stop at Halifax.

From Other Locations.

There are many through trains from various parts of the UK to Leeds. From Leeds, trains leave for Halifax approximately 4 times an hour.
The destinations on the trains will be one of the following: -

Manchester (Victoria),
Blackpool (North)
Halifax
Hebden Bridge or
Huddersfield via Bradford, Halifax and Brighouse.

Manchester International Airport (MAN)

Preferred route

On arriving at Manchester Airport, the trains depart regularly to Manchester (Piccadilly).
At the Manchester (Piccadilly) railway terminus, board the Metro tram to Mancester (Victoria). Trains run regularly to Halifax.

Alternative route

Trains leave Manchester Airport station for Leeds approximately every half-hour. An open return to Halifax via Huddersfield costs £17.20. Change trains at Huddersfield for the train to Leeds via Brighouse, Halifax and Bradford, which runs once an hour.
